15 Expert Optimization Tips for Facebook Business Page

Have you created a Facebook business page for your business and you are happy with yourself? A week or two goes by and nothing, not one like, follower. Your only followers are your friends and your mum.

Tip #1: Add the Right Profile Picture:

Add a picture that reflects your brand, very often this will be your logo. This picture probably will be most important one as it will be displayed on all your posts, Facebook search results and posts when someone shares your posts on their own timeline.

Make sure that the picture is 180×180 square pixels and it is still readable when it is reduced to 40 pixels size which will be in the newsfeed.

Tip #2: Add a cover photo:

You will never get a second chance to make a great first impression other than using cover photo efficiently. Cover photo is the biggest image on your page and most impactful at 820 Pixels by 320 Pixels. It is the largest image on your Facebook page and the best opportunity to showcase your business.

Think about changing it regularly so that it matches with trends, season, news that are happening in your business. Better still use a video if you can as it will grab the attention of your visitors straight away look at it and make it more engaging.

If you are using video it should be between 20 to 90 seconds long and atleast 820px by 312px. But it is recommended 820px by 462px.

Tip #3: Add a short description to your page:

Your page description is found under the “about section” of your page. Use it to describe who you are and what you do in 255 characters which is the maximum allowed. It is very important to use relevant keywords in your short description so your Facebook page appears in Facebook search results for your chosen keywords. Tip#4: Add a long Description to your page:

The long description is also located under the “about section” just below the story headline. Use this area to describe about your business in more depth. Include services and maybe additional information such as social media links and include your address and phone number.

This section is limited to 10,000 characters which is huge and give you a plenty of space to put all sorts of info in there.

Tip#5: Add a description to your cover photo:

This is ignored and forgotten by many businesses, but yet it is an another opportunity to add more copy and more relevant keywords in relation to your business.

To add description, simply click on the cover photo and click on “add description” link and add your description there with a link. You can also tag yourself and add your location you want to.

When you upload a new cover photo it creates a new post in your newsfeed which is shown to your network and will include the description.

Tip#6: Add link to your website:

This doesn’t need much explanation as your Facebook page is also a great opportunity to promote your website. In order to do that you can add a link to your website directly from your Facebook page.

Go to About Section, go to additional Contact Details and add your website there.

Tip#7: Select the right business category:

When you create a business page make sure you select the right business category. There is no need to add 10 business categories, since Facebook will only keep the most specific one. You want to choose the most relevant category for which you want your business to be found.

Tip#8: Create a custom Vanity URL:

When you create a business page for the first time, Facebook will automatically generate the URL for that page made of random numbers which is not very useful. This is not practical if you want to advertise your page and you need something a lot more customer friendly which would look easy for customers.

This is what called a vanity URL. Follow the steps below to create a Vanity URL:

Click on Create Page Username link under the profile picture and create your desire URL. You will need atleast 25 likes before you do this. Also be very careful when doing it as it can be done only once.

Tip#9: Add Call to action Button:  

This is the opportunity to convert your visitors into leads or pool of customers by simply adding a call to action button right at the top of your page in blue.

There are currently five main categories to choose from ranging across 14 different options. Choose the one that is most suitable for your business.

Example: You can add Call now button and assign your number to it. This can give the calls from Facebook visitors directly.

Tip#10: Add page tabs to promote your products or service: If you are local business, you will either sell products or offer services. Both the options are available under the left menu of your business page i.e, Shop & Services

Tip#11: Pin your most important posts:

Not all posts are created equal while it is okay to post light-hearted articles or videos on your page. You always wanted to give the best impression for your visitors who come for the first time. Choose what you feel are the most important posts from your feed and pin them right at the top of your page which should send the right message.

Select the post you want to pin and click on the 3 dots at the top of the post and simply select “Pin to top of the page”. This should bring your Facebook post right at the top of your Facebook page.

Tip#12: Start posting videos:

How to do it?

Go to Videos on your page left menu >> Under playlist tab click on “Pencil” button and click on “add playlist”. Here you will have an option of adding some Title and Description

Click next and you can start selecting the videos you want to be the part of your playlist.

Tip#14: Enable Reviews:

Nowadays everybody makes informed choices based on reviews. People will check your reputation online before they make a decision to do business with you. As a business, it’s important to build credibility and that goes through by collecting positive reviews online.

To add reviews tab:

Go to Settings>>Edit page>>Scroll down>>Click on Add a tab>>Select review>>add tab>>Now your review option will appear.
